Dawnbringer's real name is Noemis Mori. Born in a time when Japan used to be an Empire under the Tokugawa clan's control, his father was convicted of robbery when Noemis was only 6. Consequently, the whole family - Noemis, his parents and his twin sister, Myzdione - were exiled.

Finding a small village by the coastline, where they resided, Noemis met the girl who'd eventually become his wife. However, ever since the family was exiled, the parents' relationship got worse and worse by the day. With his father getting more violent, Noemis slowly stepped up as "the man of the house", defending his mother and sister until the day his father left. But the damage was done already. Noemis vowed he'd never become his father, especially when his wife got pregnant.

Noemis' life was suddenly plagued with misfortune. With an illness plaguing the village, many people died - including his mother. His sick wife had a difficult birth, and succumbed to her blood loss when the twins (Bagatelys and Mydros) were born. That led to Noemis isolating himself, barely being able to even look at his kids, and distancing himself from Myzdione.

He was reminded of his own promise when one day, when Bagatelys was old enough to walk, the boy looked up to him and raised his hands. When Noemis didn't hold him, the boy cried from the rejection. His father's heart just broke. And for the first time, he held and hugged the child.

Slowly getting closer to Bagatelys and Mydros, Noemis started to heal from the pain. He found out how joyful parenthood was for him, how proud he was whenever they accomplished anything. How much they looked like him, almost like he created them himself without any help.

While he was happy with them, he was still far away from his sister. She'd leave the village for whatever reason, only to return some days or even weeks later. It led to arguments from both sides, but years passed and nothing changed. Not until Noemis left the house and found another set of twins, newborns wrapped in a blanket and put in a basket. He quickly realized those were Myzdione's children. His sister never returned.

Now, having to take care of two children and two babies, Noemis slowly fell into depression again. Winter had just arrived as Ahmya and Aoki, Myzdione's kids, were born. Food was scarce, and Noemis was alone. He started having nightmares as well, dreaming of Mydros and Bagatelys' deaths.

His life got to an ending on that same winter. When Mydros had the idea of playing outside with her brother, in order to give her father some peace of mind, the kids were surprised with the presence of wolves near the village. Hearing their screams, Noemis grabbed an axe and ran to help them. The kids survived, at the cost of their father's life.

Noemis died as a loving, grieving father.

But Dawnbringer? He was directly responsible for Mydros and Bagatelys' demise.
