Cranberries crushed into a tangy cocktail.
It was a drink served at a dinner party of a contractor; fresh and tart to the taste. He requested regular supplements of the raw ingredient in exchange for a small wish. (In which the contractor wished for their potted lilies to self-fertilize.) And thus, a miniature deal within a contract was made. During the period of the contract, Rye got used to popping cranberries into his mouth while wandering the halls. Cranberries are his favorite for their easy snacking. He's always had a fondness for sharper flavors as well.

Pomegranates come a close second for their bittersweet twang. They were his favorite when he first discovered them. He enjoyed the novelty of the bisection, the rich visuals, and the hollows and caverns within the pomegranate's shell. He has a fancy for the "interior" of things. His first few attempts at eating a pomegranate devolved into dissections. He took notes on the different formations and other features of the fruit.

However, once the novelty of pomegranates became more of a hassle, cranberries reclaimed first place. After all, Rye is curious first and practically motivated second.

Ah, and he dislikes apples. It carries the scent of antiseptic to him.
